概要
This study investigated the effects of voluntary exercise on early-stage muscle atrophy in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced type 1 diabetic rats. The results demonstrated that the primary cause of muscle atrophy was insulin deficiency rather than reduced physical activity, and that voluntary exercise alone was insufficient to prevent muscle loss. In contrast, insulin treatment suppressed the reduction in muscle mass, while leucine supplementation partially attenuated muscle atrophy. These findings suggest that leucine supplementation may represent a promising therapeutic strategy for preventing muscle loss under insulin-deficient conditions.
