概要

This research revealed that at health, medical, and welfare facilities for elderly suffering dementia, there is a high rate of incidence of aggressive behavior towards staff, and that nurses and care workers feel a sense of anger and resignation. It can be surmised that this type of psychological stress stems from trying to understand the patient. While the coping actions are passive, it cannot be concluded that they are objectionable feelings for a helper. However, imposed tolerance leads to internalizing problems, and as a result, motivation to work and level of care can decline. At facilities that care for elderly dementia patients, it is important that nurses and care workers maintain psychological well-being. Therefore, a solid administrative support system is imperative.
