概要
Beige adipocytes regulate energy metabolism via thermogenesis, influenced by DNA methylation. This study examined how DNA demethylation using 5-azacytidine (5-AzaC) affects beige adipocyte function. While 5-AzaC did not alter differentiation, it enhanced thermogenic gene expression (e.g., Ucp1, Cox7a1), mitochondrial activity, and fatty acid uptake. These findings suggest a role for DNA demethylation in modulating beige adipocyte function, with potential relevance to obesity and type 2 diabetes.
